Elsie didn't agree but she nodded her head anyways. If they didn't have to eat then she would never have to feel the ache of hunger in her tummy. But this lifestyle was her choosing so she couldn't complain, it was her decision to run away. She sipped on her milkshake as her blue eyes followed Save's towards the grey skies.

Save sighed as she finished her brownie. She felt sated, for once. She leaned back on her seat and looked at Beth. She was still looking at the sky. Serene and deep in thought at the same time. Her blue eyes wide. Almost disturbingly wide.
"This place is strange...I have a feeling this ghost town has got something to offer for refugees like us. Something under its surface", she said. She felt like a refugee. Well, she was one. She was home-less in way...She missed her parents terribly. At least Beth had hers eve though they're struggling. Everything has their price...some worth it, some...never in a million years.

The woman got at least one thing right though she probably didn't know it. Elsie was a refugee on the island. She had ran away and this was the place that she had ended up. While it wasn't the greatest place in the world it was still far better off than where she had been. She lowered her eyes, finally looking away from the gray skies. It would be raining soon which meant that everything would be completely soaked when she went to find a place to sleep for the night. It was worth it though.

Save looked at Beth and then at the almost finished meal in front of her. The brownies were still there but she didn't have much appetite for it. She was full and sated. She patiently waited for the girl to continue on with her meal. It was almost cute to see a girl like her eat so much but the thought that she usually wasn't getting enough of a meal like this nudged on her heart. Maybe if she gets to meet the girl's parents, she'd manage to figure out the right thing to do. Maybe later...
"So where are you supposed to be after lunch, Beth?", she asked the girl lightly.

Elsie shrugged her small shoulders. She didn't know where she would go once she left here, not like it mattered anyways. Elsie could go anywhere that she wanted. She motioned for the waiter to bring her a to-go bag, wrapping what was left of her sandwich in a couple of napkins to save for later.

Save giggled at Beth when she called for the waiter. She acts like such a grown up and Save can't help but find her cute.
"Do you want to take you somewhere? Maybe I can take you to your parents so you wouldn't have to walk alone?", Save asked Beth kindly. She didn't really mind having to carry the her groceries. The girl's safety was worth it.

Elsie's blue eyes widened ever so slightly and she quickly shook her head no. Save couldn't follow her once they parted ways as she didn't have any parents to introduce the woman to. "I'll be fine." She insisted, her voice soft and barely more than a whisper as she packed the rest of her food into her bookbag. She rarely spoke unless she trusted someone or had dire need to.

Save mouth closed and opened, rather out of lack of something to say. She was surprised by the girl,...again. It was getting embarrassing but she thought it weird that Beth was acting that way.
"I'm so sorry, I actually thought you were mute...", she said, covering her mouth with her hand in surprise and apology.

Elsie watched the woman come to terms with the situation with a bored expression on her face. She was used to this reaction by now. Many people had also thought that she was a mute but that was what she wanted people to think around here. If they thought that she couldn't speak then they would have a hard time trying to question her. She would say no more to this woman as long as she was smart and agreed to leave her alone after this.

"Uhm..uh...", Save said as she composed her self. "Why are you not speaking, Beth?", she said tentatively, not really knowing what to ask the girl. Her eyes filled with confusion as she looked at the stoic girl. She was strange. Probably out of trauma?...Save didn't know and she had no idea. But there must be something horribly traumatic about the girl's past that made her choose this.

Elsie rolled her eyes at the woman as she adjusted the straps on her bag to comfortably fit her shoulders. Did Save really expect her to answer after spending this much time together? She should have gotten the hint by now. With a shake of her head she climbed down from the bench and headed for the door.
