Elias sat behind the bar, his head resting in his hands. It was the middle of the day, so there were few customers. Only an elderly man occupied the small pub at the moment, too lost in his drink to care about the bartender.
Which Elias thought was perfect. His head was throbbing, his eyes blood shot. The results of a night off in the Underground. He had drowned himself in the warmth of the alcohol, its oblivion helping clear his mind. He struggled to remember the night, the edges of his memory hazy. Girls had sought his company, he remembered, but he did not oblige to their requests. He only drank. Occasionally watched the cage fights, but ended up turning away in disgust, or something more...
With a groan he stood and began searching for a bottle behind the counter. Not looking at the bottle he finally found, he poured the liquid into a dusty glass. He picked up a bottle of painkillers that were on the counter, downing the alcohol in one mouthful with the pills. He sighed, and slumped back into his seat.

{Bah, Sorry, had no idea where I was going to find cash.}
Ina walked into the bar. It was the only decent place that she could find around town at the moment. She didn't really have any particular reasons as to why she wandered around town. She just needed some air. The people at the castle were gracious. They've been very kind to her, considering that she's practically a stranger to them. They've eased a bit of worry and fear from her chest. She doing better than before...but not necessarily good.
She sat at the bar. She reached to her pocket and brought out two coins that she just picked up from the streets. She didn't have anything on her when she washed up ashore. She took advantage of every opportunity that presents itself upon her.
"Do you have anything that I could buy with these?", she asked the bartender, not looking at him but at her hands instead. She wasn't usually shy around people but after what happened..."Nevermind", she thought.

Elias squinted at the girl as she walked in. 'Uh' he moaned, his head aching in synchronisation with her footsteps. He blinked slowly, trying to focus. The pain in his head had soured his mood, but as much as he wanted to tell her to get out, to bother him later, he was in such a bad mood to turn away a customer.
He looked at the coins in her hand. Enough for one drink he thought, looking at her face. 'How old are you?' He grunted, his voice sounding hoarse.

She looked at him at his question. It didn't really matter what her age was. She just wanted to get something for the two coins so she can see what the currecy value here was. She had no idea about this place. It was like being born again. New culture, new people, new everything. She was hoping this place would offer her a new life...perhaps a better one.
"Sixteen.", she said still looking down and shrugged. She didn't really care why the man was asking. She had other things in mind...Like trying to be more useful to the people up at the castle.

'Old enough' He muttered. Elias stood slowly, trying not to worsen the aching in his head. He gragged a glass from beneath the counter and placed on the bar, softly, concious of how the noise would affect the ache.
'What do you want?' he asked he asked his head, held slightly to the side.

She grimaced at the dusty glass, the man put in front of her.
Ina was clueless, she looked up and finally met the man's eyes. She wasn't really surprised that he looked hung-over. He sounded like he was in pain, after all. She looked around at the bar and at the bottles behind the man. She could hardly see the labels. She really didn't have a clue.
"I don't know...Do you have gin or something?", she shrugged.

Elias nodded, his brown eyes flashing. He walked to a shelf behind him, grabbing a an unlabeled bottle filled with colourless liquid. He poured it into the glass, hardly caring when it splashed onto the dirty wood of the bar top.
He pushed it towards the girl, feeling some of the fuzziness clear from his mind as he did so. The painkillers were starting to work. 'Do you have a name?' Elias asked on impulse, holding out his hand to take the money from the girl.

Ina scowled at his question while looking at the liquid on her glass and the sploshed excess around it. He was certainly hung-over. She handed the man her coins and proceeded to sip on her glass before anwering his question. When she finished with a quarter of her glass, she lookedat him and said. Yes, I do have a name. I believe so do you.", she said. She wasn't going to give out anything too easily. One thing you learn when you've lived in the streets is that never to trust anybody so easily.

Elias nodded, yawning. 'Elias' he said, tucking the coins into his pocket. 'Proud owner of the Devils Drink' He waved a lazy hand around the bar. 'Your turn'

Ina eyed him for a second after he gave out his name. He just looked so out of it. Extremely sleepy and, apparently, he looked like he had a headache.
"Ina, and I suggest you drink water for yourheadache, instead of your usual crap.", she said to him while she sipped on her drink.

Elias glared at Ina angrily. This wasn't the first time the alcohol had gone to his head, and it wouldn't be the last. He knew how to deal with it. 'And you would know?' he asked gruffly, picking up the gin bottle and drinking from it. The last thing he needed was some kid telling him what to do.

Ina smiled at him pleasantly at his glare. "Yes, I would.", she answered him. She was slightly frightened now that he was getting angry. She wasn't usually afraid of tempers but that man who tried to...He had a temper, to say the least. She touched her side as she felt for the bruise that he gave her.
"Cheers.", she said as she slightly raised her glass to him with a scowl.

Elias sighed, letting the alcohol warm him slowly. His headache had faded. Resting his elbows on the bar, he met her eyes, calming himself. 'What brings you to my bar anyway?' He raised his eyebrows at her 'New in town?'

Ina sighed as she watched the bartender leaned on the bar. He was still about an arms reach away but her heart beat can't help but rise at the thought of having a male stranger near her. She sat back on her stool, willing herself to be calm. She nodded.
"I was just...looking around. Yeah, New in town.", she shrugged and nodded.

Elias nodded. 'Here for school?' He sniffed 'Good luck with that. Headmaster's an odd one'
He yawned sleepily, the only thing the painkillers hadn't taken away. He found his mind drifting back to the other student he had met. C.C. For a moment she was a fixture in his mind, before he let thr thought of her slip away.

She frowned. Was she here for school? She hadn't talked to Headmaster Lucian about that. She was hoping to procure a job of sorts to be able to at least pay for her tuition.
"I'm still quite sure about being able to stay...tough times and all.", she said vaguely as she sipped on her gin. She would probably do good as an assistant of sorts...or maybe not. This place creeps the hell out of her yet she doesn't really want to go. For a second there, she thought she found a surrogate home. "Have you been here long?"

'You're not the only one' Elias said gruffly, his eyes fixed on the old man in the corner. 'Why did you come here?' He asked Ina, without looking at her.
Elias gave a snort of laughter. 'Too long.' Two years he had lived on this small, cramped island. Anyone else would have gotten bored of the place by now, but to him it was home. A better home than he had known anywhere else at least. He didn't need people close to him. He just needed his music, the Devil's Drink, and the Underground.

She sipped on her drink once more and set it down before she answered his questions. She didn't really know how to answer his question...Should she lie? She was, after all, adept in lying...She contemplated the pro's and con's. Lying would require more effort and...that, she didn't have right now. She opted for the truth with a bit of twist.
"I...just...kind of washed ashore...", she said vaguely. "How'd you come across this place?"

Elias studied her with dissatisfaction, then shrugged. He didn't care to know the things she left out. Her life, her problems. He took another long drink before responding.
'Washed ashore?' He looked at her sceptically 'A rather sugar-coated way to put it i'm guessing.' He paused for a moment before answering her question, considering how he did come here..... to understand the real reason he was here would take too long. And he wasn't in the habit of telling his life story to patrons that walked into his bar. 'I heard of an opportunity, so I sought it out. Got this place' he shrugged, saying no more than he needed to.

Ina chuckled. "Well,..uhm...", she looked around the bar with a condescending smile. "I can see you've been doing a bang up job with that...", she said to Elias.
She wasn't really the type to be condescending but her mood wasn't at it's best since the incident and she's never really gotten around to fixing that any time soon. Also, this Elias guy was fun to annoy.
