Amandine looked around her as she walked into the entrance hall, pulling a large black siutcase behind her. She had said goodbye to her mother at the docks, and had dragged her rather heavy suitcase all the way to the school, her mother said she didn't want to go any further. Amandine pondered why this was on her way to the school and decided that her mother didn't want to risk seeing the father she knew was lurking somewhere in the woods.
She stopped in front of an empty desk that clearly was supposed to be the recpetion, there were several soft looking chairs to one side of it, so Amandine decided to sit down and wait and see who came along. She dragged the suitcase across to the chairs and sat down, she slid the handle of the suitcase back down and sat to wait for someone. She would have gone to find the headmaster or something, but she didn't know where to go, or where to look.
The chairs were quite high, so she sat back in hers, and swung her legs underneath it. She was wearing blue jeans and a green zip up hoodie, undone to reveal a black t-shirt with the slogan 'sugar and spice' written on it in curly white lettering.

"It was...there...I swear it was there..." A voice said from the end of a nearby corridor, soft footsteps walking towards the reception area. Her deep red hair was twitching slightly, one strand being twirled around her finger. She wore a long white dress with a black waistcoat. At first, she did not spot the patient little girl, her eyes wandering hither and to, seemingly lost, until they rested on the small child.
"Oh...Hello there. Are you new here?" She said politely. She said this because the girl -looked- new. But if she wasn't, then she could help her.She felt odd, thinking about asking for help from a child."I'm the new librarian...But I appear to have lost the library. Funny, that." Emy Mused, more to herself than Amandine.

Amandine looked up from her swinging feet as someone spoke to her. The woman had gorgeous long red hair, and a vauge smile that Amandine liked. She stood up.
"Yes I am, my Mummy wrote to tell the school I was coming. I'm Amandine Lux." She said smiling and holding out her right hand politely.
"I'm afraid I can't help you find the library, I only know what mummy told me, and she said I was to wait here for someone to tell me where to go so that I didn't get lost. I really would like to change into my uniform, but I don't know where the dormitories are." she said doubtful that the librarian would be able to help her if she didn't even know where the library was.

"I'm sure the others know you're coming,I don't believe I got the memo...Then again this isn't exactly one of my duties..." She laughed, instead of extending her hand, her pony tail lurched forward, wrapping around Amandine's outstretched right hand and shaking it.
"Well,if anyone was assigned to come find you I'm afraid it seems they are a tad forgetful...Lets say we wait a while and see if anyone arrives,I'm not the most comprehensive of welcoming parties,Amandine. Then if not...perhaps we shall go on an adventure to find the dormitories?" There was a glint in her sparkling eyes,as she tried to reassure the girl even though she herself was rather lost, she had to remain professional. "I was a student here once a few years back...I am sure you will like it. Where did you come from?"

Amandine laughed in wonder as the woman's hair wrapped around her hand and shook it. Amandine noticed the glint in the librarian's eyes as she suggested they go on a little adventure together. She nodded eagerly, and smiled up at the woman. She sat back down on her chair to wait as the woman suggested, thinking about how to answer her question.
"I was born in A hospital in East Sussex, that's in England. My Mummy sent me here because she said I would learn things at this school that I can't learn anywhere else. I think she really sent me here because my Daddy is here. I'm half human, half forest mage." she said, tucking her brown hair behind a pointed ear so that the librarian could see. "Some girls at my old school used to tease me about my ears and that I can't get a sun tan, but I like my ears, and mummy says my skin is pretty."
She looked back at the librarian. "What do you think? Do my ears look funny?"

"Oh,a half forest mage! I haven't seen many here in my time, have to say,but theres been a few- your ears are beautiful my dear,I've seen far stranger. As you may have caught on I'm not entirely normal either.I'm sure you'll fit right in...Theres nothing wrong with being different."She assured the girl. She sat down beside Amandine as they waited. "So,half forest mage?I've never really seen the forest mages as being...you know."She laughed to herself, remembering she was talking to an 8 year old."Actually, you probably wouldn't know, forget that line of thought m'dear."
She sighed,changing the subject quickly.
"Your mother was right to send you here...This is the only place you will find forest mages...and hopefully your father. Oh and Miss Amandine, the things you can learn here are fantastical...have you any powers that you know of yet?Maybe you're a little young to have developed any yet..."

Amandine smiled as the woman complimented her ears, her mum always told her they were pretty too, but she tried to make her cover them up when she went out. She hated that, the tips used to get very itchy, and in recent years her mum had given up.
"Sorry if you think I'm rude, but how did you do that with your hair?" Amadine listened to the woman as she started a sentance and then stopped, deciding the adult had chosen not to finish the sentance because she thought it would go over her head, in which assumption she was probably right, Amandine let it slide.
"The Transformation teacher is a Forest Mage. Mummy signed me up for that class, as well as Latin and History. I can make my pupils change shape if I really try, but I can only do it if I'm on my own. I get nervous when people watch me." Amandine looked down at her feet, her hair swinging in front of her face like a brown sheet.

"Its not rude dear, Its good to be inquisitive. especially with some of the strange things you might see here...Well,as you can see,I'm no forest mage, nor half...But I'm special in my own way. I can use telekinesis to move my own body- hence my little hair tricks."
She laughed softly, her long ponytail plaiting itself in midair as she spoke.
"Ah... You'll find other pupils powers work the same way, especially those as young as you,I know I was scared to show mine when I started here. I'm sure you'll come out of your shell, this place has a way of bringing out the more....Magical side of people."
She paused, looking down the corridor once more to check if anyone was coming.
"Transformation? I took that class way back when...for all of a week.Probably still the same teacher! It turns out I wasn't much good at doing anything other than...well,what I can do now.Transformation wasn't really my thing...But with your forest magi blood you'll probably excel!"

Amandine watched in awe as the librarian plaited her hair with her mind. She smiled as it fell back onto the woman's shoulders.
"That's really cool! Can you move anything other then just partys of your body, like books and pens and stuff?"
Amandine listened to the woman talk about the othe pupils here, and how the school brought out the best in them. "I'm looking forward to starting my lessons" she said with a smile. " I like learning new things. I hope I am good at transformation, but mummy told me it can take a long time to be good at it. To change the shape of my pupils I have to think about them changing, it takes a lot of energy and I'm usually quite tired afterwards. But I like it when my eyes look like cats eyes, I think they are pretty."
Amandine looked up and down the corridor, there seemed to be no one coming to find her, she wished her mum had come up to the school with her.

She paused, humming to herself, blushing slightly in embarrassment as the girl asked about her powers further. "Well...No...I wish I could, but my powers only work on my own body- Its quite useful if I say, broke a leg though, because I can still move it perfectly fine with my mind."
She looked down the corridor as the girl had, sighing.
"Well...It looks like we may be a little short staffed if I'm the only one to find you...how about that adventure?"

"Well I think your powers are cool! But the broken leg thing is just yuck, why would you want to move it? Wouldn't it hurt a lot?"
Amandine smiled up at her.
"Let's go," she said as she stood up and pulled out the handle of her wheeled suitcase. "Which way?" she asked with an excited glint in her eye. If school was this exciting she wouldn't miss her mum too much, it was still a shame that she wasn't allowed to bring her Bow though.

"Its more useful than you'd think dear...What if you'd fallen in the middle of a forest? or if being attacked...?"She paused smiling.
"But enough of things of that caliber...Lets find the dormitory. Its been a few years but...I'm sure its....This way!"
She pointed purposefully to her left, walking down the corridor.

Amandine nodded to indicate that she understood, and followed the woman as she began walking down the corridor, pulling the suitcase behind her. The corridor was fairly well lit and she found herself smiling as she saw more of the building, it may not have looked it to just anyone, but ths place felt welcoming to her.
It might have been the fact that she knew there was no way she could be the weirdest person here, but also wouldn't be the most boring. It could have been that she had already met someone friendly who was willing to help her out.
She thought suddenly of the Teddy Bear resting on top of her clothes in the suitcase and smiled, she was looking forward to getting him out and cuddling him to her chest when she went to bed tonight, and wondered briefly what the sleeping arrangements would be like.
"How old were you when you first came here?"

"hm...8...9...Something like that,I don't remember. You think you're scared Dear...I was terrified. But I soon found my way,my place,as I'm sure you will too."
She looked this way and that in the corridor, through class room doors and the like, trying to remember her way around.
"How old are you?Are you going to be a first year?I find its better to start at the beginning. gives you more time to see everything availible here...And theres alot to see,let me tell you!"

"I'm not scared, I just miss my mummy. I'm eight, Mummy showed me a list of the lessons available, but she wouldn't let me take weapons training, she said it wasn't approprate, or something."
Amandine looked at the way the librarian was checking all the doors off the corridor, and decided this woman was either very forgetful or just had a really bad sense of direction.
"I don't think they'd put dormitories on the first floor, would they. That's just silly. Why don't we try a different floor?" She looked around for a staircase, but couldn't see one, and hoped the librarian knew where one was.

She chuckled softly. "I suppose most mothers would think weapons training innapropriate - my own mother would have said the same." She stopped, scratching the back of her head. "Hmm...Well...I think I remember one..." She turned on her heels, going back the way they had came. It was entirely possible she had no idea where she was going, but she certainly -looked- like she was striding with purpose and definition.

Amandine looked at her as, for a second she seemed completely lost, trying to remember where there was a staircase, they suddenly it disappeared and she was striding purposefully back the way they had just come. This certainly would be an adventure, if they got anywhere interesting. Turning her suitcase round on its wheels, she followed the woman back in the other direction.
Despite her want of adventure, Amandine would be glad when they found the dormitory, she thought she might be very tired by the time they got there.

"Ayah!Stairs!" she exclaimed,as they approached a wide oak staircase, red carpet sprawled down the steps.
"I remember these steps from a few days ago...they lead to the staff quarters...eheh..."She laughed nervously."I'm not supposed to tell you this but...theres a way through them to the dormitories,I've heard...Would you like to take your chances,or should I find the stairs you're supposed to use?"
She winked, smiling broadly. This sort of question was one that a teacher had asked her when she joined; just to see what kind of person she was,and how closely she'd follow rules. Either answer was fine,as Emy was rather inquisitive herself and used to like to bend school rules on occasion.

Amandine looked at the red carpeted staircase, then back at the librarian, seeing the glint in her eye Amandine smiled.
"If we go up here are we more or less likely to get lost on the way to the student dormitories?"
If she was going to break the rules she would evaluate the benefits first.
"Although if I'm ever going to find my way to my dorm on my own I need to know how to get there without breaking the rules." Making up her mind in that instant. "Lets find the student staircase." she said confidently.

She laughed softly.
"Good point...I'm sorry that I'm not the best tour guide in the world. I'm about as useful as someone saying 'to your left is a door, and to your right is a big tree.' "
She listened to the girl intently, watching as she thought, weighing up the benefits and drawbacks of the 2 routes.
"Student staircase it is..."She paused, smiling once more.
"Since my sense of direction seems to be leading us nowhere... Perhaps you should pick a direction this time, Miss Lux?"
