Ina's head snapped up and looked at the Latin master. How can he expect her to trust anybody besides herself at this point? She can't possibly do that easily. He didn't know...he'd never understand...because he didn't know the whole story. She didn't want to be impolite but she needed to make her point. She sat back and took a deep breath to calm her sobs.
"I can't trust anyone that easily and do as you suggest, Mr. Gray. With all due respect, I appreciate your intentions but I know I can't handle that now.", she said, looking at her uneasy hands.

Gillian looked at Ina sadly, knowing that she was being honest. 'I am sorry Ina. But know that if you ever want to talk to someone, the offer is always there'.
He walked a little way away from her, to stare out the window. He could see the forest spill over the small hills and curves of the island, enveloping the dark land in blue-green foliage. The dark outline only broke at the islands edge, and where the town sat, nestled amoungst the hill and dips of the island. Streaks of black and murky grey shot across the sky, creating odd whorls of colour.
Feeling a desire to move away from the sorrow of Ina's revalation, he spoke softly. 'It is an odd place here. Beautiful'

Ina hiccuped once and drew another breath to end her crying. She turned, pretty much, into a cry baby. She hated it but she knew enough to understand that it was a natural reaction to something as traumatic as what she experienced. But understanding is not tantamount to accepting. This was unacceptable for someone who's gotten through a crappy life like hers. It was unjustifiable. She was strong. She was pulling through, in a way or another.
'It is an odd place here. Beautiful', Master Gillian said.
She agreed. There was something horribly unnatural about this place. She felt like she was choking on something, the moment she stepped foot in the castle. Like a suffocating force but not of the entirely unpleasant type...She wasn't sure what anymore...
"Ha--Have you been here long?", she asked the Latin Master while she kept on staring at her hand. Ashamed of her outburst earlier.

Slowly unlatching the large, stiff window, Gillian pushed it open. A cool wash of air rushed in, raising goosebumps on his arms and causing him to shiver momentarily. He breathed on the cold air slowly, enjoying its purity. It was so different from the air of the mainland.
Gillian smiled softly at Ina's question. 'About as long as you.' He glanced back at her breifly before returning his eyes to the window. 'You gave me quite a fright. I had just arrived and all of a sudden there you were. You made my first day rather interesting.'

A snort came out of Ina as a reaction to that Latin Master's description of what she did to him. Now that she's relatively safe and sound, it does sound a bit embarrassing and she wanted to not talk about it. It was still vague for her, her memories of that night. It was almost like being dozed with GHB but of a type that causes intense pain. Ina wasn't a saint. She'd only tried some drugs once when offered but never came back for a second. Consider it a field research. Ina was dead curious. She had friends who did get addicted...and died of overdoses in front of her. After that phase, she distanced herself from junkies. Knowing that nothing good will come of it.
She looked at Master Gray and tilted her head, observing him. He looked placid...unbearably composed and still. Total opposite of Ina.
"I'm sorry about...how I arrived.", she scowled. "I---I didn't really intended for that to happen.", she confessed. It was true, she didn't want that to happen. She wanted to d--she wanted something else to happen.

'I am sure its not at all your fault, my dear' He had turned to face her, honesty written on his features. 'You should not, can not, blame yourself for your misfortunes' He had turned away from the window, and was now facing Ina. His eyes, glittering brilliantly, bore down upon her form. Whatever she must of been through..... he couldn't bare to ponder. He could only hope that this poor, broken girl would find a home at this place which he so adored.
He smiled at her, for a moment, truthfully, brightly, openly. Then that smile became hesitant once more. His eyes became clouded with the dust he could see illuminated in a shaft of light, floating weightlessly through the room. He blinked. Twice. His vision cleared, only sadness tainting it now.

She forced to close her lips and prevent another unneeded retaliation. It would help a lot if she lessened her wise cracks in inappropriate situations such as this. It was rather harsh of her to keep battering him about not understanding her. After all, not a lot of people does. It was only a valid assumption that he wouldn't. Give him a break.
"Uhm...yeah...right...", she said reluctantly while nodding. He maybe right in cases wherein the victim didn't believe that she brought her misfortunes to herself. But in Ina's case, she knew she it was necessary risk when she ran away from home. She didn't want to regret it since her other option was far too sorrowful and disturbing than what she has right now.

Gillian's brow creased into a frown. 'I hope things improve for you whilst you are here' His features and voice showed honest concern. He took a few steps towards his desk, now standing halfway between Ina and the door.
'Perhaps you should get some rest?' He said, meeting her eyes. 'You will be busy soon, I do not doubt' He smiled softly.

"Hm, you're probably right...", she said and stood up, her eyebrows kept in a knot.
"Well, I guess thanks is in proper order...", she said, twirling her thumbs together. "Thanks for everything.", she said, looking up to meet his eyes. All sincerity thrown into one look. And she turned around and walked towards the door. She paused just short of exiting the office.
"Uhm, if you need any help with anything that I can do. I'll just be around.", she said, trying to give herself an opening to repay him, in a way.
Ina walked out of Master Grey's office.
