It was dark out, very dark. The stars were still shining in the sky, but they were hidden by the clouds. And the moon wouldn't be any help tonight even if there were no clouds; the moon was only a sliver in the sky. It would be a new moon within the next day or so. With all the clouds came the threat of rain, as usual it seemed on the little island.
The night sky didn't deter Emmy from her goal, however. It was late, yes, well past curfew. But that wasn't about to stop her. Her mind was conjuring up too many unpleasant images each time she closed her eyes, and she found herself unable to sleep because of them. She'd already lived through a nightmare once, she didn't need to relive it in her dreams. No, they weren't dreams; they were nightmares. Dreams were supposed to be nice and light, and these were anything but.
The halls were silent save for the sound of her footsteps, muffled a bit by bare feet. Emmy would slip her shoes on when she got outside, but they would make too much noise in all the quiet for her purpose. It was a cool night, so she'd slipped into a pair of sweat pants and threw a sweatshirt on over her t-shirt before she'd left her dorm. Now she was thankful for the gray of her pants and black of her sweatshirt to hide her in the shadows.
It didn't take long to reach the main entrance. Emmy slipped through the large door and took in a deep breath. The air was icy cold compared to indoors, and it chilled her lungs almost painfully. Still, it was not enough to make her turn back. The girl slipped her sneakers on, taking the time at the door to scan the grounds for any signs of life moving through the grounds.
No one was about; that was good. Emmy hurried down the front steps and took off at a run. Her hair flew out behind her in the wind she was creating, her body still ached and protested at the movements; her various wounds still hadn't healed completely and she could feel the effects of not being able to workout regularly as she used to. She could, however, still manage through it and run away from the school.
The forest would provide cover as she made her way to that town she'd gone through when she'd first arrived on the island. A few more paces and she was there, the forest. It was darker here even than in the open ground. The trees prevented the little light there was from reaching as far down as the forest floor. Emmy paused in her running to let her eyes adjust to the darkness.

Amongst the lively leaves, twigs and trees, almost as if he was a part of the forest he was currently residing in, crouched Lanor. His form barely a shadow, as he silently held his head lowly in a tall tree. Hovering it's giant branches over the seemingly fragile girl below, that now stood still. It was as if she had finally noticed where she was. In a dark forest, that held nothing but danger. Especially from something like him, if they had chosen this night to roam for food.
Lanor couldn't be sure of which point he had noticed her breathing. Her heart beating a rhythmic tune, that kicked his senses back in motion, zeroing in on her form. Making his thought's slowly retract back, his mind locking them away, for another time. It wasn't as if they were doing him any good. Never mind the thought of his parents, and how they would take to him never returning. Or the fact a male was the reason he didn't want to get married to a female. It was rather funny, if you thought about it. Being part of a royal vampire family and all that.
Letting out a swift chuckle at the thought, Lanor stood tall on the branch that held him. His electric blue eyes gazing calmly at the human below. He was actually rather curious by her. He often wondered why human's dared to step foot into the forest. Even why they would risk their life by traveling a path many had, a path that generally lead to the infamous 'light.'
It was if they had no sense of fear, but Lanor knew they did. He could remember the smell of their fear vividly, plaguing his senses, and filling him with a odd pleasure. Mind you, he was no savage, he only feed off the 'bad.' And there was plently bad around O.S.
Studying the human girl, Lanor didn't think she acted at all like she should be out. If Lanor's hearing was correct, the girl held various injuries, he could hear the unhealed tissue fibers tearing with just her muscle movement and she was only standing. It was disturbing to think the girl would be out with injuries. No less, the forest.
Raising an eyebrow, Lanor decided to watch her. As of now, he felt she deserved to be under his protection, at least, as long as he felt she wasn't trying to get herself killed.

A steady drumming, a quick rapid beat that sounded very close and oddly muffled; it was precise in its count. The sound of her own heart beating loudly in her ears drowned out all other noise to her. For the moment the girl leaned back against the trunk of the tree, the rough bark aggravating her back, and closed her eyes. She wanted to shut out everything but that steady beat of her own heart.
Time seemed slow down around her. Each beat of her heart was slower, more silence in between. Her body felt increasingly heavy, until she had to consciously think about holding it up. She felt as if she were opening her eyes. Indeed she was, in a memory; her body where it was in the forest remained unchanging.
In front of her was a man, walking towards her. It was an empty wine bottle in his hands this time. Her eyes were out of focus but they soon adjusted to that horrifying smile, that twisted look in his eyes. A feeling of dread stuck deep in her stomach, turning her insides over each other in knots. A sob stuck in her throat and she longed to scream but the tape over her mouth prevented that. He was within arms distance of her now. She closed her eyes, squeezing them tightly as if it were all a bad dream and he would go away when she opened them again. But he didn't leave, the only change was now the feeling of glass shattering over her back.
Emmy's eyes shot open, a scream on her lips that echoed somewhat in the silence. Her back ached with the remembered feeling. The man had hit her repeatedly with that bottle only to take gentle care of her with removing bits of broken glass from her skin later. Each gentle touch of his had hurt more than the glass ever could. Her scream turned to a sob and the girl fell away from the tree to her hands and knees on the soft ground. How she wanted to forget, to escape those painful memories.
After a few minutes on the ground, Emmy wiped her eyes with dirty hands. The dirt mixed with her tears to form little streaks of mud on her face, but she didn't care. All she wanted was to run again, as if running far enough would erase the past. It wouldn't, she knew, but she had to believe in something. Legs shaking with the effort and torn skin protesting, she forced herself to her feet again.
One last look back at the school she'd just fled from and she was off running again, twisting her way through branches and over roots. Only one word remained now in her mind, only one conscious thought: Escape.

The scream frightened him, sending his thought's into disarray. It made his tensed muscles react. Making his legs move forward without thought. Leaving Lanor falling from the branch, like an abandoned leaf. Silently falling toward the dense forest floor beneath. A whole 20 meters.
He tried to move his body so he could land comfortably. He really didn't want to have an injury. He ended up landing on all fours, hands in front, feet behind. His back, thankfully, facing the girl. Lanor was lucky she had continued to run, or else he was sure he would of undoubtedly and ungracefully landed on her.
Then again, it would of been her fault, because as far as he could see, there had been no reason for her scream. But as he slowly turned, finally catching the girl's back as she ran. Lanor could smell the slight aroma of tears. It was unmistakable, the salty ting it brought to the air. Whatever reason this girl was out, had to be beyond what he could guess. Perhaps, the island was too much for the poor girl?
Standing from his position, Lanor swiftly followed. Footsteps light as they trailed behind the girl's. The path he could make out, was far from where he wanted to be. Surely the girl would be able to sense she was being followed? If only because he was the only one, besides the girl, that was in this part of the forest. No one tended to want to come out here. It just gave off the wrong aura, chilling you to leave.

Branches whipped in front of her, hands reaching out to grab her and hold her back. A new cut appeared on her shoulder from a stray branch she hadn't moved around. It was a shallow cut, only drawing enough blood to form a protective crust over the new wound. With all the other marks she still possessed, Emmy hardly noticed the new one.
Memories threatened to push to the surface, blocking her from seeing the path in front of her. On a couple occasions, Emmy had almost tripped over stones or roots in her path because of those damn memories. Another feeling had begun to intrude on her thoughts. This feeling was neither better nor wore than that twist in her stomach she gained from the thought of the man. Her thoughts more on her emotions rather than where she was going, Emmy's ankle caught the underside of a root and down she went.
It was then that the new feeling got stronger. Emmy unhooked her foot from the root and twisted over so she was facing the path she'd just run down. Her eyes were wide, fearful for what was chasing her. Instinctively she tried to back up, the soft ground making it difficult. But frozen in her mind was this need to see what was chasing her, so she never stood from her spot on the ground to run again. Whatever it was, Emmy only hoped it would do its damage quickly.

Then, there it was, light to the senses, but intoxicating none the less. Blood, being freshly let out from a wound. It was tiny, almost insignificant. If he so wanted to, it would be enough to make her, his meal. But it wasn't. Besides, he didn't think she would appreciate such a thing. By the looks of it, Lanor began to think the girl had been through something horrible, to act the way she was. To be doing whatever she was doing.
It wasn't the hard thud, from her body hitting the ground, nor the way her frantic breathing, made her heart beat like a caged up animal, that made Lanor stop meters from her. No, it was her eyes. Impossibly wide, with fear. And he met them head on with his own, electric blue ones.
It made Lanor hesitant. Believing it was his doing, that she had fallen. He already knew she was afraid of what he could be, having figured out she wasn't alone, like she'd possibly thought. Although, in a flash he was beside her. Crouching low, hidden by the branches around him. Creating darker shadows, then the night ever could.
"Please, don't move." It wasn't so much a command, then a request. Mixed up and laced with his French accent. Softly spoken, as he didn't want to frighten the poor girl. He didn't know how much abuse her body could continue handling from it's owner. Maintaining her stillness was the best option for now.

The rough bark of a tree made contact with her back forcing a gasp of pain from her. Her eyes stared into the dense mass of branches she'd just torn through, searching for some unseen antagonist in the night. Although her eyes had adjusted to the lack of light, she was still only human and could only see so much. But the eyes staring back at her from the path she'd created were unmistakable.
Tears once again filled her eyes, spilling on to her cheeks as she blinked. Emmy struggled to keep control of her mind as the fear that penetrated her body seeped into her conscious thoughts. Her fear only escalated as, in the blink of an eye, he was beside her. Her body shook, the cuts on her back irritated from the bark on the tree trunk.
His voice was soft and gentle; it made her cringe and shy away from him. That fear had devoured her waking mind and dived into her subconscious. Even as she knew, somewhere deep down, her former attacker was miles away, separated by a vast ocean, her mind was fooled. Though it couldn't be true, the person crouched next to her took on the image of the man that had abused her before her arrival on the island.
In a scrambling movement Emmy was once again on her feet and off into the forest. She needed to get away from him, needed to protect herself. In the distance was a light in the forest. A shelter perhaps. Emmy made that her goal, as the lone light on the end of the boating dock had been the night she'd run away from that man. She was lost, physically in the forest, and trapped, mentally by the memories of her ordeal.

Adam was above the ground, in the branches. His bow drawn tight as he tracked a rabbit scuttling through the undergrowth beneath him. Training from birth, coupled with his mottled green and brown cloak meant he was invisible in the forest, he looked like a perfectly normal piece of wood, and if need be, he could move without a sound, no-one ever knowing he was there until he wanted them to. The rabbit paused, lifted onto its back legs and started sniffing. This was good, in this forest small things were always being eaten by bigger things, a predator would mean a more ample dinner. The sound of something punching through the undergrowth made the rabbit dart away, and Adam adjusted his aim for what was coming towards him.
His bow drawn tight, he prepared to release his arrow. The creature about to burst through the final screen of undergrowth. He slowly releases his grip on the string........then freezes. The creature that had come through was not a creature at all, but....a GIRL? His shock was overcome in an instant as he realized she was bleeding, crying and panting, she was running from something. She stumbled, and headed straight for his campfire. As Adam is about to follow, he notices a shadow come down the same path. To fluid for a human, to co-ordinated for one of the forest denizens, then he realized with horror that this was a vampire.
The vampire, was focused on the girl. Even Adam, with all his years of training, could only remain hidden from a vampire as long as he remained dead still, luckily this one was focused on its next feed rather than any potential threats. Adam, not releasing the tension from his bow, and keeping it aimed at the creature of the night, jumped silently from branch to branch, not a single one swaying under his weight. The girl had reached his campfire by now, but he couldn't make her out clearly, his eyes used to the dark could not see her against the glare of the fire. The vampire had stopped a few metres away from the girl, in clear sight. Adam took up position directly behind and above the creature, and aimed his bow for a killing shot.
Adam realized this was to dangerous, if the vampire moved, he might hit the girl, that was unacceptable. Realizing he had no choice, Adam crouched, bundling his legs under him, than sprang. It was a perfect jump, he managed one back flip before landing in front of the girl facing her. In a heartbeat he was up and spun around, his cloak billowing out, looking like it was made off moss. He aimed his bow directly at the creatures chest. Adam had killed vampires before, it couldn't be avoided in this forest, and he knew, that as in-humanly fast as they were, they couldn't move faster than his arrow could fly. He stood, the fire making his arrowhead glint threateningly, and waited to see what this creature would do.

Lanor was at a lose. His muscles pausing as soon as the girl made her way, stumbling forth, always toward the light. That and the way she didn't react positively toward his spoken words. Lanor was worried, for the girl was loosing blood faster than she could run, damned his advice, words would not help her. He would have to carry her back to the school, and hopefully find someone to help her return to reality. From what he could gather, she wasn't all together.
No one ever was, if they ventured out this deep into the forest. It was troublesome.
Intending to pick the girl up, Lanor's hestiated, the air around him shifted. With a glance around, Lanor dismissed it, concern for the girl masking the potential threat lying in wait. Slowing down, Lanor caught hold of the girl's lower arm, barely brushing his finger tips against her, when another made himself known. A weapon upon him, making Lanor's eyebrow rise up in hidden irritation.
Weapons of any type , Lanor loathed. People, more humans, always resulted in using them for greater harm, then good. He'd been around for long enough to know this. Also, the fact vampires didn't need them, was another. But to each his own.
The arrows head didn't even get to find it's glint in his eyes, as Lanor took one look at it and covered it with his hand. A move so swift, he didn't even seem to move. While he placed his gaze on the young man. Leaving his hand around the arrow, for there was not a chance it would go through him, if his hand was attached to it.
"I wish you no harm, nor the girl." Lanor simply said. Words he'd had to say a number of times toward many. Although, he did wonder why this man was so far in the forest. Human's, they always found themselves trouble, it made Lanor curious of them more so, then it should of.

The light bobbled in the distance, growing larger as she ran. Behind her, she could hear the movements of the man that attacked her. Subtle noises sounded from above, and once again, she felt the presence of another life. She dug her toes in deeper to the ground and propelled herself forward. But it was growing harder to maintain her speed, try as she might.
A campfire; the light was from a campfire. The thought grabbed her attention, pulling her from the depths of her memories. In the same instant, fingers clasped around her arm, urging her to a stop. Her body was unwilling to fight as her mind was, and slowed to a stop. Just in time, too, for from the air that other life she felt landed with a dull thud. Instinctively, she took a step back from the man.
Emmy’s mind was dulling with a mixture of pain, confusion, and lack of physical strength. An arrow was pointed behind her to the other man following her. Hesitantly, she turned her to her attacker. No, not her attacker. This person’s eyes were light; her attackers had been dark. Her mind was foggy as she struggled to tear the past from the present.
They were going to attack each other. The reasoning left her, nor did she care to call it back now. Her arm felt heavy as she raised it, resting her hand on the arrow. The man’s words echoed through her mind. Her eyes rested first on the man aiming the arrow, and then on the man holding the tip. Tears filled her eyes once again, though this time for the fact that she’d caused this trouble. “Emmy,” she whispered, then again louder, “Emmy.”
((Sorry. >< My writing isn't at its best tonight...))

Adam was gobsmacked. Did this creature just........talk? and in a co-hensive manor? All the vampires he had faced in this forest were no more than human shaped monsters, occasionally speaking, but it made no more sense than the ramblings of a madman. And THIS vampire was faster than anything he had come across before, his eyes registered only a glimpse of a blur, before the creature had his hand firmly on his notched arrow. Adam realized with dismay more than anything, that he had severely underestimated this foe, and had he wanted to, could of had him dead by now. Then even more surprising, the girl he had tried to protect had placed her hand on the arrow as well, muttering something incomprehendable.
Adam could not figure out what was going on, but if this girl did not want the creature dead, he would oblige......for now. He slowly let out the tension on his bow, returning the arrow to the quiver on his back and slung his bow, but made a point of drawing back his cloak in doing so, to reveal his double scabbard housing his Saxe and throwing knives. The vampire was watching him, with a strange look on his face, but what was it, anger? hunger? amusement? curiosity? perhaps a mixture of all of them? Adam could not tell, and so turned his attention to the girl.
She was in a bad way, blood, sweat and tears covered her. She was visibly shaking and looked on the edge of exhaustion. She had her eyes on the ground, and seemed to be mumbling. He gently clasped one of her arms in his hand. She looked at him and spoke "Emmy..." Adam frowned "Wha..." He never finished, as she collapsed, from exhaustion or blood loss he did not know. He caught her before she hit the floor of the forest, and laid her down. He heard a rustle as the creature took a step forward, without looking up, Adam growled "Hold your ground" The movement stopped. Adam had a better look at the girls injuries, and realized he did not have enough supplies to heal all of them. He was in a tight spot, not knowing quite how to get this girl out of the forest and not be ripped apart by other denizens that would be attracted by her blood. He heard the creature start to move again.
Adam spun and stood, unsheathing his heavy, thick Saxe knife, and his slender throwing knife. He held his Saxe knife backwards so the thick back was across his forearm, the tip pointing towards his elbow, and the blade facing the vampire. His throwing blade drawn back, ready to be released with a flick of his wrist. After the arrow, Adam was not sure if he could best this creature, but it certainly wouldn't get out of it without something to remember him by. "I said hold your GROUND" The vampire paused a moment, thought, and was about to speak, when there was a ferocious growl from the other side of Adams camp. A pack of HUGE grey wolves, muscles bulging under their sleek coats, and flowing with each step. These beasts had clearly caught the scent of blood, and had come to claim their prize. there were about a dozen he could see, in the clearing and the trees behind. Adam knew his limitations, and knew he probably couldn't kill them ALL. He had no choice. Moving with the fluid grace of years of training and experience, he sheathed his knives, drew his bow, and shot the first arrow in a heartbeat, followed quickly by two more. The alpha male went down in a writing heap, letting out a furious howl, then silenced. Adam grabbed the vampire by the collar to look him in the eyes "I was told not all vampires are mindless murderers, i told those people they were crazy, PROVE ME WRONG" With that the clearing was filled with the whistle of arrows and savage howls as the pack charged.

The soft spoken words, layered out in thin desperation. The girl whispered her name. Emmy. If nothing else, she wanted her name known, as if it was more important then anything. A smile, so tiny, formed onto Lanor's lips. His electric-blue eyes leaving the young man's form in favor of her's. Watching her delicate hand rest on the arrow, and the man's face mix with emotions, as if he'd never seen a vampire act like Lanor was currently. With it, Lanor stepped forward, while the weapon was put away. Ignoring the man's words, he was focusing on a way back, for Emmy. Whoever this man was, just because he was human, didn't mean he was any less of a threat, then the other creatures in the forest.
With gracefulness, Lanor tilted his head to the side. His senses picking up a low growling in the distance. His mouth slightly opened, about the warn the man, but for all the good it did. The man was intent of finding something wrong with Lanor. As he shouted out for him to remain still for the second time.
Lanor saw the beasts, before the young man did. His body was about to pounce, after all, by nature, Lanor wasn't the only thing that was able to sense blood from miles away. There was untold horrors in this forest. But he found fingers around his collar, and a face close to his.
"I was told not all vampires are mindless murderers, i told those people they were crazy, PROVE ME WRONG"
Lanor just nodded. His fangs lengthening, while he calmly pushed the man away from him in order to avoid the beast that lunged for him.
"The same could be said about Human's." Lanor responded. Throwing two of the mutts away from Emmy, hearing their leg's break, as they whined with intense pain. Feral growls erupted, as Lanor cast a side way glance at the man's actions. The arrows hitting their targets with precised accuracy. While his mind formed a plan, he kept one eye on Emmy and the other on his targets.
The beast's numbers were dimming. Lanor, hadn't killed any, he simply broke their legs. He wasn't a mindless killer. He knew that if the other packs of these woods found out about a massive killing, the school would be in danger from a large scale attacks. He didn't want that, this place had become close to a home to him.
"You have to get Emmy out of here." Lanor advised, quickly glancing at the man, then at Emmy and focusing back on the beast's. He could deal better with these animals alone, then with company.

These wolves were relentless, their thick hides and tight muscles proved to be a challenging barrier to his arrows, but Adam quickly found their weak spots, and exploited them. He was firing off arrows so fast his hands were a blur. He had killed several of these beasts, when he heard "You have to get Emmy out of here." The creature had spoken to him. Adam hadnt moved from his position standing above...emmy. He would have to time this just right. He shot the nearest wolf in the eye, making the beast holler in pain and sending it crashing it into its wingmen. Adam slung his bow, barely registering the change of weight in his quiver. He picked her up in both arms, than ran.
She was lighter than he thought, but even so she was cumbersome. The wolves were right behing him, giving chase, and the vampire was busy dealing with the remainder of the pack. Adam jumped onto a lowhanging branch, as used it as a stepping stone into the trees. He had to stay low tough, only the thickest limbs would support both their weight. He jumped from branch to branch, his progress feeling painfully slow by comparison to his usally silent and fast movements through the woods, but he dare not go any faster, even with the wolves, quite litterally, nipping at his heels. He wasnt sure how much more this girl could take, and there would be no point in getting to town as fast as he could if the journey itself killed her.
He traveled at an angle to the path she had forged through the forest. They got closer as they neared the forest edge, and would meet up with it just before they broke through the treeline. One of the wolves managed to get a good jump off on a jutting rock below them, and slammed its weight into the branch just as Adam launched to the next one. The movement sent him off course, and he could not easily re-adjust in mid air. He managed to angle the impact. Slamming his shoulder into the thick trunk of a tree, sending it ajar. The girl stired in his arms, but whether through dreams or recognition of her situation he had no idea. Adam managed to jump land and jump on one more branch, but he knew he was going down before he hit the ground, he simply could not regain his balance with this girl in his hands. He positioned himself so he landed on his back, taking the most force, the girl on top of him. They hit with a hard thud. He slid himself from under her and stood. Then the wolves were upon him.
He threw his thin knife, hitting the creature directly between the eyes, it went down without a wimper. Adam cried out in pain as the last remaining wolf clamped its jaws on his left arm, its fangs piercing his bracer. He felt the gush of warm blood flow down his arm. He stabbed with his saxe knife, opening a long gash from the creatures muzzle to the back of its head. It let go and growled in fury and pain. Adam spun, putting all his force into a kick that landed right on the wound he had just created. The wolf was knocked back a metre or so. It recovered, shaking its head. It let out a menacing howl, its eyes gleaming with fury, having tasted its prey and been denied. The wolf leaped at Adam. Instead of becking away, Adam stepped INTO the attack, forcing his saxe knife into the creatures chest, using its own momentum against it. The wolfs breastbone shattered, and his knife plunged into its heart. It let out a gurgle as its mouth frothed with its own blood, then layed still.
Adam pulled his knife from the body. The pain in his arm was agonising, it made him stagger, and for a moment he though he would passout. But he remembered the girl he had yet to get to safety, and he refused to give in to the darkness while she still relied on him. The tree line was within sight. The girl was still breathing, and as he picked her up, ignoring the renewed pain in his arm, she opened her eyes. Drawing strength from the duty still unfullfilled to this girl, he raced for the tree line, breaking through and into a clear field. He could see the lights of the town ahead. and headed for them.

In a word, Emmy was scared. Scared for herself, though from what she couldn’t exactly place at the moment, and for the two boys in front of her, both of whom seemed bent on tearing the other’s throat out. What sort of mess had she found herself in now? If she was being completely honest with herself, this was the first real trouble she’d placed herself in. The first was a fate thrust upon her without prior consent. She was shaking with emotion, exhaustion, and shear inability to hold herself straight any longer.
Another hand held her arm now, and Emmy stared dumbly down at it, then up to its owner. “Emmy,” she repeated her name again. He began to say something, but she never heard the end of the question. Her vision went hazy around the edges until the world faded to black altogether and her body fell.
She was dressed like a doll, in a pale blue dress with a ribbon around her waist. Her hair had been curled and tied back at the base of her neck with a matching ribbon; small strands of her bangs that couldn’t be pulled back hung across her forehead, hiding the lines of worry etched above her brow. On the table in front of her was a fine set of china, the kind used once a year on the most special of occasions.
“Have you finished your tea?” The voice was behind her. He was back from the kitchen with a tray of sandwiches. His voice was gravely, but calm and soft. It seemed he’d forgotten the beating he’d given her only a couple nights before. That was how it went, nights of torture followed by rest and being this man’s life-sized play-toy. She dared not move lest she break his friendly demeanor
“Let’s move to the front room then, shall we? I’ll read to you again.” He moved closer; she could feel his breath hot on her neck. The next instant, he had her in his arms and was carrying her to the other room.
Emmy stirred, her eyes fluttering back and forth beneath her closed lids. She whimpered from the pain in her back. It was enough to jolt her from her dreamland. Once again she made a noise not unlike a whine mixing with a moan of protest. Here was the man that had held the bow and arrow. Beneath her knees she could see a trickle of blood from a painful looking wound. “Where is the boy?” she asked, her voice tiny and weak still. “Where is he? Where are we going?” Tears filled her eyes, stinging with their wetness. “Who are you? Where is he?” She asked the questions again and again, never truly waiting for an answer. Simply saying the words as the tears fell to her cheeks.

Adam was heading towards the town now. In the open of the field nothing could sneak up on him. There was a road at the other end that lead straight into the town. He was moving at a slower pace, the immediate danger having passed. However he was still brisk, the biggest threat his own inability to remain concious. He heard a wimper and looked down, the girl had awoken in his arms. “Where is the boy?” Adam frowned, did she mean the vampire? “Where is he? Where are we going?” Adam could see the moonlight catch her tears, her voice was shaking. He looked back over his shoulder. He himself had killed, including the Alpha male, 5 wolves before leaving the clearing, plus the 2 that had persued them, that was 7. He saw the vampire take down 2 before he left, that would of only left about 3, Adam was confident the creature wasnt dead, though where he was now he diddnt know. Adam scrutinized the field more throughly, looking for the telltale shadow. The mistake all vampires made, even this one, was that they were to smooth. Normal shadows, moving due to the wind, were sparodic and random, and their motion could be matched only to a degree. But he saw none of these shadows now, the grass was short and there were no trees about, there was no where he could hide, wherever he was, he was not in this field.
Adam turned back to the girl, she kept repeating herself. He wasnt entirely sure how to answer her. "I dont know where the creature is" Adams voice was cool, calm, smooth, he diddnt use it often. "Im taking you to the town, to a hospital" He wasnt even sure this island HAD a hospital, but he knew there would be a doctor at least, but this island was fairly large, he was convinced there would be one. They had reached the road, it was a clear shot to the town, not more than 5 minuits walk at his current pace. He looked back down at her. In the short time he knew her, he could tell this girl was deeply terified of SOMETHING. Instinctively he lowered his head to whisper in her ear. "My name is Adam, and im not going to hurt you, I promise"

Lanor bit back a growl. Teeth grinding together as he kept himself calm. The frustration staining his otherwise flawless face, only for a second. As it returned to a blank coolness of indifference. His eyes sweeping over the carnage of bodies, beasts for all he cared, but he did care. That was why he left most, if not all, alive. It was important for Lanor to separate himself from them.
Wolves.
Just pubs looking for easy food. They didn't know any different. Like so many others creatures in the forest didn't. All so delicate and fragile, frightened by outsiders, humans more than human's could ever consider. It didn't even occur to the human to try and injure them beyond movement. The alpha was dieing, swiftly. The younger ones running in fear, knowing not, but what the alpha taught.
It was sickening.
It all threatened to make the anger, slowly simmering inside of Lanor, to take hold. To overcome his demeanor of calm. Which wasn't an easy thing to do, Lanor was prided of his absolute coolness. He radiated with it, usually making others feel his calm and take it as their own. Breathing in, a useless action, but one that focused him. Lanor took in the blood, of both Emmy, and the current wolves. The scent of the other human. His footsteps echoing in the distance, vibrating the earth as he concentrated.
Without moving his feet. Lanor seemed to vanish, leaving the forest behind. His pace left no room for noise, or colour. Soon, he was behind them. Unsure whether to leave them, but by the sounds of the male, who didn't know which direction to go too. It would be incredible amusing to watch him stumble around without guidance, for his actions. Although, Lanor didn't think Emmy would appreciate it.
"The academy has medical aid." Lanor interrupted. Walking past them, toward the academy. Knowing he would be late for morning classes again. Yet, this was important.
"I suggest you follow me." He input smoothly. Seemingly undeterred by what had occurred in the forest.

Emmy's tears eventually slowed until only a glimmer of wet was left over her eyes. She blinked rapidly to clear her vision and finally take a look around them. Adam. The name echoed in her head; the girl repeated it out loud. "Where are we?" she asked in a quiet voice. She understood that they were near a town, near a hospital? It was then that the scent of blood reached her, from her own injuries and Adam's. But the other boy was gone, or so it seemed.
The young girl made a small whimper of fright when he suddenly reappeared in the field with them. Emmy felt sick at his suggestion. Back to the academy? But she'd just run from there, from its confinement. "I need to get home," she protested, struggling weakly to escape Adam's hold on her. "My parents." At that, a knot formed in her throat making her unable to speak. How long had it been since she'd last seen her family?

"Adam" He looked down to the girl in his arms. They moonlight caught the glimmer of tears around her eyes. She was blinking, awake. "Where are we?" Adam was about to answer, when the vampire appeared in front of them, literally out of thin air. In the split second before he recognized the shape, Adam realized what a poor position he was now in to defend this girl. When he did recognize the shape, he had the bite back a nasty retort, so vampires could teleport now? Adam was un-impressed. "The academy has medical aid, I suggest you follow me" The vampire turned and walked off. Adam didn't want to follow this creature, it might not of tried to kill them yet, and did indeed help with the wolves, but that by no means meant Adam trusted it. But Adam fell into pace with it all the same. He could brave the cold, the discomfort, he could stitch his own injuries, but he couldn't deny Emmy a warm bed, with medical staff and hot food. He was thinking about where he could hide in such a place, while still being in close proximity to her, when she spoke up again. "I need to go home" She struggled slightly, trying to get out of his arms, Adam couldn't decide whether he should put her down or keep carrying her. "My parents" That made her cease her struggles, made her fall silent. Adam considered for a moment, then came to a decision.
He put her down on the side of the road, on a grassy rise. He looked into her eyes and spoke softly. "I know your name, but i dint know who you are, i don't know who your parents are, I cant take you home, I cant give you any answers, but i can promise, that while I'm here, whatever it is your afraid of, whatever it is your running from, I wont let it hurt you" Adam never made a promise he didn't think he could keep. He didn't know what this girl had been through, but right then, right there, it seemed what she needed more than anything else was a human touch, and while there were many people that would be better at this than him, he was the only one there now.

Lanor made for the school. His pace slightly faster than normal, due to the human's behind him and the need to get to the school to safety. He was a little mindful of their speed. Although when Emmy spoke, in distress, once he mentioned the academy, he slowed. Walking instead beside them. He was curious about why she would be afraid of such a place that had been a sanctuary toward everyone who had passed through it.
She's delirious. Lanor thought. He didn't say anything, only listening to the words being spoken between them. Until the gates of the academy stood like a beacon, just meters from them.
"She's a student, as am I." Lanor suddenly spoke, wanting the boy to know that, for he wasn't sure if the boy was new to the island and had yet to find his way to the academy, or someone who just roamed around. Locking his eyes onto the massive building before them, Lanor turned to look at the boy.
"She will be safe there." He said softly, truly believing in the words he spoke.
