Listed here are the most commonly found creatures on Obscurum Sceptrum.
Creatures of the Skies
Creatures of the Skies
Rukh: Only one Rukh (also known as Roc) is known to live on Obscrum Sceptrum. Many hundreds of years ago, thousands of these enormous birds dominated skies across the world, however, due to hunting and disease they have nearly completely died out.
Barrus Fuga, the last Rukh thought to exist, is hundreds of years old and has inhabited the island for longer than anyone can remember.
This colosal specimen does not take to the skies very often, as due to his old age he is mostly blind and losing some feathers. To see him in flight is a beautiful but tragic and lonely rarity.
Wyvern: This stout, small, two-legged creature is reminiscent of the legendary dragons often mentioned in myths. The wyvern grows no more than two meters in length, its almost serpentine body finishing in a barbed tail.
These creatures never fly higher than the treetops, for their fear of the Rukh, who feeds upon them.
Wyvern are dangerous creatures, known to be sporadically vicious when approached by humans.
Achiyal: Beautifully deadly, the Achiyal is the largest bird to fly the skies of Obscurum Sceptrum after the Ruhk. Their feathers are a beautiful array of colours, reminiscent of a rainbows spectrum.
Those stunning feathers are fearsome when viewed closer, many have discovered. They have razor sharp edges, suited to tearing the soft skin of human and beast alike. They are generally avoided by the wyvern, who fear their deadly feathers. These birds offer no harm to the dragon-sepents, nor to humans, which they view with indifference. The prey of this bird is larger game of the forest.
