Laura stood awkwardly at the mouth of the clearing that held the homes of the forest mages. Instinct had lead her here, yet she knew not to what end. She looked wide eyed at the earthy homes. All of them seemed so natural. It was as if they had grown from the ground itself. She wouldn't be suprised if these homes had started out as a seed.
This whole place was just so lovely. Everything seemed so peaceful and beautiful. The setting sun filtered green light through the trees. The air was warm against her bare arms. It even smelt wonderful. Damp moss. Sage. Sweet, burning herbs.
It was so relaxing and soothing. It calmed Laura for a moment, until she remembered that people usually didn't come here. It is getting late She reasoned with herself I don't want to disturb anyone. Don't know why I came here, really. She couldn't help, however, lingering there for a second longer.
It really was just so lovely.

He was sat, cross-legged on a stump that had been claimed by moss many years ago. His eyes were closed and he was so still that he seemed to be part of the forest. When he opened his eyes they were a bright golden-yellow. Piercing. His hair fluttered slightly around his face as the wind moved through the trees. It was the soft rustle of leaves that dominated his hearing, but it did not make him deaf to the footsteps of an intruder to a circle where only his kind usually came. He could feel her mind. (Because it certainly was a female) She was a spark. She was a fire amoungst the human-kind.
Soon his piercing eyes were piercing her. "You are quite welcome here Magus. Please, come closer" He spoke with the voice of the forest, it was all green and soft and made of wind-whisper

Laura jumped visibly, she had not seen Master Zahi and his voice wasn't expected. Blushing slightly, she walked to him, as he had asked. It was an unconcious action, again led by instinct, and that nagging at the back of her mind.
She was unfamiliar with the term 'magus' but it did not bother as much as she felt it should have. The word seemed to resound in her, calming the ceasless disturbance within her. When she was close enough to Zahi to see him clearly, she noticed the odd tint to his skin, and the length in his body. Somehow, she got the feeling he wasn't quite human. Of course she knew who he was, if not what. He was the Master of transformation. She could tell so already from what she had heard of his appearence (that not including the odd differences). His eyes, as bright as they were, were too much for her. Laura folded her hands in front of her and bowed her head, waiting for Zahi to address her again.

"Much better" Again, that soft unusual voice. It sounded as if he had caught the wind rustling through the leaves and used it for his own means. Blue-tinged lids closed over the firey eyes, but if you looked close enough, their brightness glowed even through flesh. Lithe legs stretched out and Zahi's bare feet found the mossy ground. When he stood, he towered over the girl.
Slowly, his eyes opened to reveal dull green instead of glowing yellow. "Speak your name, young magus."

It was a relief to be spared from those blinding eyes, though there was no less intimidation when Zahi rose to his feet. She was not tall by any means but she seemed dwarfish before him. It felt odd for her to stretch her neck upwards to meet his eyes. When she answered him however, she couldn't maintain that strenous eye contact. "My name is Laura" She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should answer in her full name. She decided that she would anyway. "Laura-Annaleise Fae".
She scuffed the toe of her shoe in the dense leaf-litter. "You are Master Zahi, aren't you?" She spoke quickly and softly, the forest felt as if it called for a lightness in tone.

Zahi looked over Laura calmly. There was a vibration in the air around her, an audible hum. It radiated from the girls very core. She was strong, even if she could not show it yet. "Yes" He answered her in a breath, "And you- you don't quite know who you are, do you?"
He saw it in her eyes. She did not know the term Magus. She didn't know why she was here or what she was capable of. Zahi turned from the girl, his eyes fluctuating in color, but remaining that earthy green. "If you would, Miss Fae, I will invite you into my home. There are many things I have to tell you." He spoke without facing her, his hair dancing about him in the slight breeze that ruffled the forest's leaves.

Laura frowned. "I'm sorry?" What did he mean by that? Of course she knew who she was. She was Laura. She made the thought firm in her mind, though it did little to change the way Master Zahi's words dragged against the back of her conciousness, making her uncomfortable.
Laura didn't hesitate in nodding at Zahi's invitation into his home. Perhaps she should have, but it felt like the right thing to do. Just like coming here, to the forest. Nervously, she followed him to his home.
