Halo gazed... His eyes riddled with the stars above him.His dark hair covering the deformed half of his face. His gloved hand itched and iritated with the uneven fabric on the scars and burns but still the star light distracted him. He pulled his cloak tighter as the breaze chilled him. Ironic considering some of the trees where singed.. It wasn;t realy his fault they where in his way. His white teath glittered with the sunlight.. so rare.. only half.. and yet Halo could think of nothing more beautiful.
"Wish apon a star" He whispered to himself rolling a coin made of flame between his fingers to create a dim light.

Zahi had been sleeping when he felt the pain of the forest, smelt its burning flesh. The smell sickened him, made him cough, clogged up and condensed in his lungs. It was like smelling his own flesh burning, and in a way he was. This forest was part of him. The searing pain of flame seemed to creep on his flesh like it crept on the body of the forest.
In seconds he was pacing the forest, leaves and dead twigs crunching under his bare feet, his naked chest exposed to the cool night air. The branches of the trees he passed reached out, brushed his shoulder with their leaves. They guided him, although he did not need it. The pain and the smell were enough to tell him that the Hollow had been the site of harm.
Zahi's eyes fell on the form of a boy as soon as he stepped into the Hollow. He seemed tragic in a way. His presence saddend the Forest Mage, but there was no doubt that he was the one who had pained his forest. The forest seemed to sigh and nod, telling him that this was so. 'Who are you boy?'

Halo closed his eyes. The stars still in his mind. He turned the coin into a butterfly and let it flutter above his head. He wanted to remember this. Something to help him sleep. The voice rung into his mind as if the stars where asking. "I am.. but what you dream me to be" He opened his eyes and over him long hair muddy and grassy.. Old but Younge.. like an Oak tree. He almost screamed.. was the man lost? Had he bin in this forrest for decades and looking for food? was this the end? Had the dream started?
He shot up from his rediculous thoughts exstinguishing the flaming butterfly.. a pittiful need to hide it.. to hide himself.. looking wide eyed his lip trembled. "w-who are you" He managed to stuttered keeping his hair in place with a few fingers on his gloved hand.

Zahi's eyes flickered and changed their colour to a deep midnight-blue. 'I am Zahi.' His midnight eyes followed the flame calmly 'Your kind call me a Forest Mage. You are the one that hurt my forest.'
He frowned, noticing the boy's obvious surprise. 'But you are new here, I can tell. The forest does not know you, it tells me so' The trees swayed, agreeing. 'So I will warn you. But only once.'

Zahi? Halo mused the name through his mind. Widening his eye as he saw the midnight blue. Mysterious. Starts sparkled reflecting them. It was... entrancing.. His black eye quivered underneath his hair. The man's shadowy gaze was like a forrest. Vines and roots sillueted on his face.
His words floated on the air as if belonging to this place. A forrest mage? What kind.. maybe he assumed Halo was human.. this made him smile happilly. Atleast strange people didn;t see him as he saw himself. The trees swayyed and he bit his lip. They don;t know me.. maybe it's better that way. "warn me?" He asked afraid of what that could mean.
He made a small ball of fire behid his back.. just incase..

'This forest is living. It feels pain, sorrow, joy...' Zahi moved closer to the boy, his expression stern, his eyes fixed on the boy's visible one. 'It is unique, and demands respect. As a forest mage, I am a guardian of this forest. I feel what it feels, and it feels pain'
He breathed deeply. The moonlight that fell in a stream across his chest made the blue-green tint of his skin glow eeriely. 'Boy, put out that flame which you hide and tell me your name. I will not hurt you, the forest will not hurt you, unless you hurt it'

Halo watched watched paths os moonlight glitter in aqua. Like a lagoon. The greens around it mixing with the blue of the sky. Halo felt comforted by the flame. Like a tather to safety.. no matter where he was he could get out of it. Without it he would feel trapped.. and as if reading his thoughts 'Boy, put out that flame which you hide and tell me your name. I will not hurt you, the forest will not hurt you, unless you hurt it'. His breath quickened. He could summon flmae if nescasarry.. He tried to convince himself. Bringing it out slowly Halo motioned his fingers and the flame diminished.
The forest is unique? It feels pain? He looked at the moving branches and back to the man. They seemed to be insinc. Like both of them where one. "M-My Names Halo" He said.. scared.. no one was ment to know about his... gift...

Finally, Zahi smiled, satisfied that the boy was no longer a threat. His eyes flickered and changed again, this time to a bright, almost fluroescent green. 'Thankyou Halo. You are so obviously unfamiliar with my kind, I can see such by the way you look at me' He shook his head.
'Perhaps you would tell me why you are in the forest so late at night?' He surveyed the boy and again felt the lapping sadness that surrounded the boy.

Halo just starred unsure at this man. His kind? That scared him. It seemed the only two kinds in the world where cursed people and well norma.. well not normal.. uncursed people. His one euye trained on this mans chaning eye colour. His strange skin.. it was ghost like.. it was oddly beautiful..
"The stars" He said simply. Looking down feeling stupid. "It's one of the best places to look at them" He siad biting his tounge. He knew this owuldn;t justify for the 'so called' harming of the forrest.

Zahi cast his eyes to the sky, briefly looking at the brilliance of the night. 'The night here is indeed beautiful, young one. The forest makes everything beautiful, and the skies are no exception.' He smiled gently at the boy, but his eyes were still stern.
'You notice its beauty, no doubt? Then I must ask you why you would destroy it.' He leant closer to Halo, studying him intensely. Slowly, he raised a hand, pushed back the hair that was covering the boy's face. He then removed his hand, let the hair fall back into place. He seemed to take no notice of the scars that were behind it. He stood straight again, without a word, waiting for Halo's reply.

Halo looked down as Zahi lectured him... did he think he was proud that his gift could only hurt things... proud of the distruction that came with every wave of his hand but still he was silent peiring at the man and the stars through a small puddle. So incompsicious. Just laying there peering at all the trees and passers by. Maybe I should be a pudlle when I grow up.
He quirked an eye brow and froze with fear as he felt fingers touch his hair. He wanted to pull away but all he could do was look up. He wanted to lash out tell him not to but he felt liek the man had.... control. His red tainted skin exposed to the wind scars still as red lively as the day he got them and ofcourse the pure black eye wide.. The eyelashes week and open. Black and white he was only seeing half of Zahi for the beauty he was.
The shining colours dimmed by the grey fog. Thats when he quickly pulled the hair of his eyes. Blinding the dark mark. He couldn;t tell how far away something was everything seemed closer almsot as a tribute to the fact that he could never get what he reached for but the beauty of colours... and the ignorance of darkness where a good trade.
and even through all this thought. Even though the man had done something that had not been done since Halo's last beeting years ago... he said.. nothing.

Zahi did not seem bothered at all by Halo's lack of reply. He turned his back to the boy, studying the damage that had been done to the forest. It was not as bad as he had feared, and the pain that he had felt when it burned was little more than a dull ache now. It would heal quickly, easily. Though he would need to tend to it in the morning. But now, it was late and dark, too much so to do anything to help. He sighed deeply, knowing that the boy could not stay here.
'Never mind, it is late. Come, I will take you back to my hut where you can warm yourself, and walk you back to the school when the sun has risen enough to light our way.' He spoke to Halo without looking at him, his voice gentle.

Halo was stunned. Frozen. Incapable of finding that small warmth in his heart that kept him going through each day. The mans tone made it die town to relaxed embers. Controlled. Hypnotised. A breafily tame flame tranced to the bold man. He stepped forward curiously to follow him. He lived out here. He felt the forrest just as Halo felt for flame and for that exact reason he was looking the fright that had spread through his body.
"Okay.. Zahi" He said shakilly looking at the man. As if his features could fall into a pond and just blend. Just stand next to a tree and be mistaken for a branch. "w-where do you live" He said managing to say it without squeeling.

'I live with the forest' He said softly, finaly letting himself smile faintly at the boy. He began to walk slowly back down the path that he had rushed not long before. The cool night air caressed his skin, reminding him of the sleep that he was losing, the sleep that he would miss in the morning. As he walked, his feet dug into the warm leaf litter. Each step was familiar, laced with traces of the journey back home. Lost in his own mind, he barely checked whether the boy was following him, though he knew he was.
The gentle path wound its way to the home of the Forest Mages, a ring of small earthy huts, that seemed to have grown out of the forest itself. Zahi lead Halo to the furthest hut from the others and stopped dead on the threashold. 'This is where I live, child'.
