Like Adia had predicted, Christian appeared on Aidan Kinney’s doorstep within the next couple of days. He actually had only been able to find the man’s place of business but from what his sister had told him this was the best place to find him. He didn’t if he should just step in or not so he took the safe way, the sound of knuckles rapping against the old wooden door filled the immediate area.
His sister knew that he would be coming to meet this Aidan today. She had even offered to watch Brooklyn for him while she got ready for her date for later that evening. This meeting was inevitable and they both knew it, but it was better to go on her terms so there would be no reason for the inseparable twins to fight about it later. Besides, he was worried about his sister’s latest behavior and this guy may have some clue as to what was going on.
His fists beat harder and faster against the door when there came no immediate answer before shoving his hands in the front pockets of his red hoodie. He leaned casually against the frame, his face set as he tried to look intimidating but clearly his sister had mastered that look better than he had.

Aidan and Jasper entered the office while it was still dark and they have been sitting there ever since. They have just closed another case and were going through all the paperwork. They both knew someone was at the door but they wanted the person to make the first step. Finally they heard them knock on the door.
Jasper, who has just finished hiding the files in a box and decided to join his wife at home, took his jacket and opened the door nodding at the young man on the other side. Not intimidated at all he motioned for him to enter and then left telling Aidan he'd meet him later.
Aidan glanced up from over his papers and pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose looking at the boy in the red hoodie. The features and the look on his face spoke everything. He was the famous overprotective twin. Aidan decided to play his game. He smiled pleasantly and motioned to the comfortable chair. "Hi, how can I help you?"

Christian jumped when the door finally sprang open and he opened his mouth to bark about how long he was left waiting outside but quickly closed it again with a frown as the blond haired man that had answered stepped around him and began walking down the street. Maybe he was a customer? He slipped inside just as the door was closing behind the man that had just left, running his fingers through his hair and making it stand out in odd directions.
His brown eyes scrutinized the man behind the desk. This had to be Aidan, his sister had described him with so much detail that it wasn't possible for him to mistake this man for anyone else. From the way his smile made her want to melt on the spot to the way his eyes sparkled when he spoke about something that he was interested in with such intelligence that it was almost unheard of. She had also mentioned how she was itching to run her fingers through that gorgeous head of hair. Unfortunately he knew everything about this man that turned his baby sister on, but of course she hadn't forgotten to say that they were only just friends. As if.
He refused the chair that was offered to him, prefering to stand so that it would make him seem more imposing. "You have a date with Adia tonight." He stated, his hands gripping the back of the chair.

Yes, that was Christian. Just like Aidan expected. It actually took him long to get here. Aidan expected him the day after the ball and yet still more than a week passed before he finally saw the twin.
He put the papers aside and took off his glasses placing them on top of the file. Christian was trying to look intimidating and it would probably work if it was a real date. Aidan would be very nervous. He still was nervous at the idea of having a date but he wasn't scared of Christian. Yet it was charming how he got here just to check who his sister was going to go out with.
"You must be Christian" He said getting up. It was impolite to sit while the other was standing

"Indeed I am." Christian replied with a slight almost unnoticable nod of his head. He leaned forward, his fingers tightening on the chair in front of him to the point that his knuckles turned white. Of course Adia had spoken of him as well, and he briefly wondered what all she had told this man. But that wasn't important right now. "May I ask what your intentions are with my sister tonight? She's a very vulnerable girl and I know that she likes you enough to do something stupid.."

Aidan noticed how Christian's fingers tightened on the chair. Good thing the boy was human. If it was Aidan or Jasper the wood would turn into dust under their fingers. "Actually she's a very strong girl" Aidan said walking around the desk and leaning against it facing Christian. "though she's impatient sometimes. As charming as it is it may cause her trouble in the future." He added absently profiling his future date. "But I'm sure you don't need to worry in this case. Even if she likes me enough to do something stupid, which I doubt, I wouldn't let her"

Christian snorted in amusement at Aidan's statement. No man was ever such a gentleman whenever they were around his sister. She was a beautiful woman who doubted the said beauty. All one had to do was feed her enough compliments to get her to agree to do anything that they wanted. There was a reason why Christian was so protective of her. "You shouldn't doubt yourself Mr. Kinney. You haven't heard all of the things that she has been saying about you or how often.."

Christian snorted and Aidan tilted his head to one side observing the other man while he talked about his sister. He didn't believe Aidan when he said he wouldn't take advantage of Adia. And apparently she was talking a lot about Aidan. His brows furrowed and his lips pursed. "Actually...I wish she wouldn't" He said

Christian's eyes narrowed and his jaw clenched. If Aidan wasn't interested in Addy then he never should have given her the impression that he was. Once again he was going to have to be the person to take her into his arms after another heart break, he could almost feel it. He had already noticed a slight change in her mood lately. "You should have thought about that sooner. She's attached to you now Kinney and there is no changing that."

"I..I've never given her the slightest hope" Aidan said raising his hands in a defensive manner. His voice raised an octave higher like always when he was nervous. "On the contrary. I made it clear that I wasn't a boyfriend material and she agreed to that. Seriously, she knows I'm incapable of romantic feelings plus it's not safe for me to have a girlfriend. Or rarther it wouldn't be safe for her" His brows pulled together and he looked at Christian with worried puppy eyes. "We're just friends. That's all"

"Adia said the same thing but if you heard the way she talks about you one would get the impression that there is something more. If not for you then for her. She likes you Aidan Kinney." Christian replied with a disappointed shake of his head. Aidan was nervous but Chris hadn't came here to talk him out of going on a date. In fact this was the one thing that Adia was really looking forward to despite her recent mood change. "You haven't noticed anything about her lately have you? Anything different?"

Aidan swallowed and shook his head. Of course he hadn't noticed anything. How could he. "I don't know her that well to notice the change in her behavior. I've only talked to her three or four times" He said scratching his neck. Christian's words really worried him. It wasn't safe for Adia to like him this way. He didn't want to hurt her

Christian let out a loud sigh, his shoulders sinking. He had really been hoping that Aidan could tell him what was going on with her. She had been distant lately, almost as if she were trying to hide something even from him and that certainly wasn't normal. She told him everything. "You must have made a really big impression then.."

Aidan frowned and then raised one eyebrow at Christian's statement. "Me? I'd rather say Jasper is the one to make a big impression. " He had nothing special to offer. He was an anti-social, geeky detective. "Maybe it has something to do with the fact when and where we talked. I met her at her work - she was bored and not entirely happy. My presence provided some distraction. And then the ball. She was alone there so again I was her company. And I must admit she's a geat company too"

Christian didn't know who this Jasper was that he spoke of and nor did he care. Apparently he hadn't made such a huge impression on his sister or else he would have heard about him just as much as he had Aidan, if not more. She was still quite angry with him for having left her alone at the ball. "You enjoy her company but not enough to give her what she wants?" He asked. Maybe that was the reason why she hadn't been herself lately? Maybe she figured out that Aidan didn't like her the same way? He doubted that though.

Aidan frowned a little confused. What exactly was Christian implying. "What do you mean by giving her what she wants?" He asked hoping it was nothing physical. Teenagers were controlled by their hormones much too often. That would not only be abusing his vampiric charm but also taking advantage of the innocent girl. Not to mention risking her life

Christian honestly didn't know what he was implying, he just didn't want to see his baby sister hurt again by another guy. She deserved better. He shrugged his shoulders and glanced around at the small cramped room. "Be good to her at least and if you have to, then let her down gently."

"Actually i hope she'll understand it so I don't have to let her down." Aidan said with a small grimace. "I do like your sister and I don't want to hurt her. And anything that would be more than friendship between her and I would hurt her so it's the safest way" He explained. He couldn't tell Christian that he was a vampire and with a very dangerous job. That people who he worked with or against might want to hurt Adia to get to him. JAsper and Alice were partners but Adia was vulnerable. Even this friendship was dangerous to her

Christian didn't know what to say anymore. Aidan seemed pretty genuine when he spoke about his friendship with Adia and he couldn't help but believe him when he said that he wasn't going to hurt her. He had come here prepared for a fight and now he didn't know what to do. He reached up to run his fingers through his hair, ruffling it so that it stood up for a few seconds before falling back into place.

Aidan smiled seeing Christian's confusion. He noticed before how the other was ready to fight him to protect his sister and he was glad Chrisitan changed his mind. Aidan wouldn't want that. Instead he looked around the room and smiled at his guest sheepishly. "Where are my manners. Maybe you'd like something to drink? " He offered
